Radiation biophysics

The group consists of Marie Davidkova, Vaclav Stepan, Katerina Pachnerova Brabcova, Anna Jelinek Michaelidesova, Jana Vachelova, Jana Klementova and Oldrich Zahradnicek. We deal with biological effects of ionizing radiation and radiotherapy in following topics:
  • damage to DNA, proteins and DNA-protein complexes
  • cellular radiobiology
  • biological effects of charged particles, XUV and UV
  • development of theoretical model RADAMOL (physical and chemical stage of radiation interaction with biological targets in water)
  • characterization of radiotherapeutic sources
  • fragmentation of primary ions
