The group led by Oldrich Zahradnicek focuses on the biological effects of ionizing radiation and radiotherapy, covering the following topics:
  • Damage to DNA, proteins and DNA-protein complexes
  • Cellular radiobiology
  • Biological effects of charged particles, XUV and UV radiation
  • Development of the theoretical model RADAMOL (addressing the physical and chemical stages of radiation interaction with biological targets in water)
  • Characterization of radiotherapeutic sources
  • Fragmentation of primary ions
