"EATRIS" stands for European Advanced Translational Research Infrastructure in Medicine. EATRIS was founded in 2007 and in November 2013 became the first biomedical scientific infrastructure to receive European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) status, established by the European Commission.

EATRIS provides access to a wide range of pre-clinical and clinical expertise and facilities available in more than 144 top academic centers across Europe. It focuses on improving and optimizing the preclinical and early clinical development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. The solutions are developed in five platforms: the areas of advanced therapy medicinal products, imaging and tracing, small molecules, vaccines and biomarkers.

EATRIS-CZ is one of the largest distributed research infrastructures in the Czech Republic. It involves 11 institutions, including the most important centers of biomedical research and development in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic joined the EATRIS consortium already in 2011, Czech institutions are involved in the activities of all five platforms. The Czech node has been a partner in many projects, such as the flagship project EATRIS-Plus or EOSC-Life, where EATRIS-CZ participated in the development of the Micha open database.

The NPI of the CAS is involved in the EATRIS-CZ activity in the Imaging & Tracing platform, for which we also provided part of the capacity of our cyclotrons and radiochemical laboratories.

Part of the EATRIS-CZ network are also accredited centers with the possibility of manufacturing and testing products in the regimes of good production and laboratory practice, or under ISO certification. The outputs of EATRIS-CZ have led to a number of national and international projects, scientific publications, patents, clinical studies, the development of software tools and databases for the management of clinical and preclinical data, cooperation with industrial partners and the development of specialized molecular diagnostics, which enables the practical implementation of personalized medicine in the Czech Republic . In the coming period of operation of EATRIS-CZ, the renewal of the research infrastructure is expected.

The development and operation of EATRIS-ERIC-CZ, the national reflection of EATRIS-ERIC, is funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) as project LM2015064, Czech National Node to the European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (1/1/2016 — 31/12 /2019), supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Operational Programme Research, Development and Education, under project number CZ.02.1.01/0.0/0.0/16_013/0001818, Modernization and support of research activities of the national infrastructure for translational medicine EATRIS-CZ.
