Prof. Pavel Exner from the Department of Theoretical Physics of the NPI was awarded the CTU Gold Medal on November 20, 2025, as part of the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. During the ceremony in the Bethlehem Chapel, RNDr. Vladimír Wagner from the Department of Heavy Ion Physics was also honored. Congratulations to both honorees!

Prof. Pavel Exner, DrSc., was honored for his "extraordinary contributions to the development of basic research at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering and the Czech Technical University in Prague and for his long-standing internationalization of teaching." The justification states that "Prof. Exner has been one of the most prominent Czech scientists for many years. He is the author of six scientific monographs and more than 270 scientific papers. He has trained a number of mathematical physicists working in the Czech Republic and abroad (Prof. Šeba, Prof. Krejčiřík). He is one of the figures who initiated the establishment of the ERC. He has been the president or vice-president of many professional and scientific societies (IUPAP, IAMP, EMS). His work has been recognized with the Neuron Prize, among other awards."

After Prof. Exner was honored, medals were also awarded to other prominent figures, including Vladimír Wagner, Ph.D., from the Department of Heavy Ion Physics. Dr. Wagner received a silver medal from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering for his "long-term creative collaboration" with the faculty. In his case, the Academic Senate recognized, among other things, his contribution to FNSPE in the field of teaching. "He teaches several key subjects at the Department of Physics and Dosimetry, such as Fundamentals of Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Spectroscopy, and also serves as a member of examination boards. His expertise in these fields contributes significantly to the good reputation of the faculty."
