17. 02. 2026

On Tuesday, 17 February 2026, Radomír Pánek, President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, visited the Nuclear Physics Institute, accompanied by Vice-President for the 1st Research Area Iva Müllerová, Vice-President for the 2nd Research Area Michaela Anděrová and Head of Finance and Budget of the CAS Jan Kotek.

The programme opened with a meeting with the Institute’s management, providing an overview of the Institute’s main research activities, its strategic direction, and its involvement in national and international projects.

The delegation then proceeded to selected laboratories of the Institute. The first stop was the Tandetron Laboratory, where the guests were introduced to the operation of the facility and its applications. The laboratory was presented by the team from the Department of Neutron and Ion Methods—Anna Macková, Petr Malinský, Romana Mikšová and Eva Štěpanovská.

The next part of the programme focused on the AMS Laboratory, where the guests learned about the use of the facility, not only in the field of radiocarbon dating. The laboratory’s activities were presented by Veronika Brychová, Jan Kameník and Barbora Kloudová.

The delegation also visited the Laboratory of Nanomaterials, where Giovanni Ceccio and Jiří Vacík presented research activities focused on materials research using neutron and ion beams.

The programme continued with a visit to the Radiochemical laboratory, where research on the radionuclide ²²⁵Ac and its significance, particularly for targeted radiotherapy, was presented. The laboratory tour was led by Kateřina Ondrák Fialová, Jan Klouda and Jan Ráliš.

The final part of the professional programme included a visit to the control room of the TR-24 Cyclotron, during which Václav Zach introduced the delegation to its technical parameters and possibilities for use in both basic and applied research.

The visit provided an opportunity for the leadership of the Czech Academy of Sciences to become acquainted with the Nuclear Physics Institute’s specific research activities as well as its laboratory and technical facilities. It also enabled an open exchange of views on the Institute’s further development and on supporting excellent research in nuclear and particle physics and their applications.
