VPN - Virtual Private Network

Basic information

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used to connect computers to one virtual network, even if they are physically in different networks. In our case it is a connection of remote computers to the institutional network by means of secure (encrypted) communication. When connected to a VPN (eg. home), the computer gets an IP address in the NPI network and looks to other computers/servers in the institutional network as if they were part of it.

This gives you access to:
• the resources of the NPI network
• resources of the CAS network (eg. iFIS, Verso)
• to libraries (eg.,

Name and password for VPN connection

The login username and password used in the eduroam network are used to log in to the NPI VPN. More on eduroam at NPI of the CAS.

Set up your computer to connect to the VPN

You have to use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to connect. To connect you need to know:
• access point - 
• user login name - entered in the form
• user password - same as in the eduroam network

Connect your web browser to and fill in:
• USERNAME: your eduroam login in the form of
• PASSWORD: your eduroam password

After successful login you will be offered to download VPN client for your operating system. Run the installation in which you select only CORE VPN and then fill in the access point Run the application after installation:
