The NPI is co-organizing a conference to celebrate prof. Pavel Exner's 80th birthday
22. 12. 2025

From May 24 to 29, 2026, a conference entitled Operator Theory and Mathematical Physics will be held at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the CTU in Prague (FNSPE). The conference aims to commemorate Pavel Exner’s contributions to mathematical physics on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Prof. Exner is a long-time researcher at the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Nuclear Physics Institute.
The conference will focus on several main areas of operator theory and mathematical physics, including spectral and scattering theory in non-relativistic and relativistic quantum theory. It will also address Schrödinger and Dirac operators, including non-standard ones, as well as quantum waveguides and graphs and other applications of operator theory in mathematical physics.
Invited speakers include Ram Band (Technion – Israel Institute of Technology), Jussi Behrndt (Technische Universität Graz), Fritz Gesztesy (Baylor University, Waco), Evans Harrell (Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta), Aleksey Kostenko (University of Vienna), Konstantin Pankrashkin (University of Oldenburg), and Olaf Post (University of Trier).
The conference is organized by the Nuclear Physics Institute CAS in cooperation with the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the CTU in Prague, the Doppler Institute for Mathematical Physics and Applied Mathematics and the Czech Physical Society.
