Registration for the Řež Nuclear Valley Open Day will start on October 16
13. 10. 2023
On Saturday, November 11, 2023, the traditional Open Day will take place in the research area of Řež. Open Day is organized annually as part of the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), jointly by the NPI of the CAS, the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry (IIC) of the CAS, the ÚJV Řež and the Research Centre of Řež (CVŘ).
You need to register for the event: registration will open in Czech on October 16 at 0:00 here.
During the roughly four-hour excursion, you have the opportunity to visit one of two routes: the first includes the boron chemistry workplace, the LR-0 reactor and our AMS laboratory with the MILEA accelerator mass spectrometer, the second the radioactive waste disposal processes and safety workplace, the LVR-15 reactor and our Laboratory of (the linear accelerator) Tandetron. During the morning (before the noon), the excursions will be supplemented by movies in the ÚJV cinema hall, where there will also be a practical demonstration of historical nuclear research radiation protection devices.
We recommend not to delay the registration too much: according to our experience from previous years, the excursion capacity is often filled up quickly. Let's just add that pregnant women and children under the age of 12 are prohibited from entering nuclear facilities.
