Two space projects of the NPI presented at the ESTEC conference
09. 12. 2025

The Czech Mission Payloads Kick-Off Meeting took place at ESTEC, the largest centre of the European Space Agency (ESA), on 2–3 December 2025. During the conference, all 13 Czech experiments intended for the International Space Station (ISS) were presented.
The Nuclear Physics Institute (NPI) presented two projects involving scientists from the Department of Radiation Dosimetry (DRD): the CZPAD project was presented by Ing. Iva Ambrožová, PhD, and the ZOE project by Oldřich Zahradníček, PhD.
A representative of the Ministry of Transport, Ondřej Rohlík, also attended the conference. The scientific experiments are being carried out as part of the “ Česká cesta do vesmíru” project.
The CZPAD experiment will verify the functionality of a personal dosimetry system in the actual space environment. The ZOE experiment will investigate whether the early embryonic development of the domestic chicken can proceed up to the stage of a sexually mature individual in microgravity and under the influence of cosmic radiation.
