Prof. Ondřej Lebeda gave a lecture at FEE CTU
06. 12. 2024
On December 5, as part of the Fyzikální čtvrtky series, a lecture by Prof. Ondřej Lebeda on the topic "Radionuclides from Physics to Medicine and Back" was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague. Almost a hundred listeners learned about the history, present and future of the use of radionuclides in medicine and physics.
During the lecture, participants learned that in the world of nuclides, each chemical element is represented by many variants of its atom (isotopes), whose physical properties differ significantly from each other. The vast majority of them are radioactive. Chemical identity associated with radiation emission can be used in a number of applications. The most interesting ones are certainly imaging and therapy in medicine, but they are also applied retrospectively in solving questions of basic physical research. The audience was very interested in the topic and a lively discussion followed the lecture.
The Physics Thursdays series has been a tradition at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague since 1993. Prof. Lebeda gave the 648th lecture.
Currently, negotiations are underway to include another presentation of research carried out at the Nuclear Physics Institute (NPI CAS) in the summer semester program.
