About the project
The large research infrastructure Center of Accelerators and Nuclear Analytical Methods (CANAM) is a center for the investigation of tasks in a wide range of scientific disciplines using beams of accelerated ions and neutrons. The implemented analytical, characterization, modification and production methods are unique within the Czech Republic and provide opportunities and information that cannot be obtained in other ways and that are indispensable for basic and applied studies in various research fields (such as in physics, materials science, chemistry, biology, biomedicine, energetics, engineering, electronics, environmental science, archaeology, cultural heritage, etc.).
CANAM was incorporated in the „Roadmap of Large Infrastructures for Research, Experimental Development and Innovation of the Czech Republic“ in the period 2010 – 2019 and supported with a targeted funding from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Currently, as part of the institutional support provided by the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the CANAM experimental infrastructure is offered to external users on an open access basis. Applications for use are submitted via the user portal.
The use of CANAM infrastructure must be properly stated in publications (e.g., Measurements were performed on CANAM infrastructure at NPI CAS – 90056). For experiments conducted in the neutron physics laboratory, we also require a declaration of the use of the research reactor in the form: "The presented results were obtained using the CICRR infrastructure – 90241."
CANAM offers to scientists and industry a unique experimental infrastructure in nuclear physics and neutron science.
